Isaac was a farmer most of his life but also worked 25 years while farming at Narvon Clay Mines. Most recently he was employed at Dutch-Way Farm Market in Myerstown. He was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church where he served as trustee and janitor for many years. He enjoyed hunting with a few trips to Colorado.

Surviving are four sons, Eugene, married to Audrey (Martin) Snader of East Earl, Clifford, married to Donna (Weaver) Snader of East Earl, Gary, married to Melinda (Seger) Snader of New Holland, and Jeffrey, married to Gwenda (Martin) Snader of East Earl; a daughter, Barbara Snader of East Earl; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Mary E. Snader of Landis Homes; and a brother, Lester, married to Janet (Reed) Snader of East Earl.

Preceding him in death is a grandson, Shane Ryan Snader; four brothers, Noah, Paul, Dan, and Titus Snader; and two sisters, Anna Mae Snader, and Ruth Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 23 at 2:30 pm at Weaverland Mennonite Church, 210 Weaverland Valley Road, East Earl with the Reverends C. Kenneth Martin, Leon Hurst, and Brian Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

GOSHEN - Celesta L. (Gascho) Snyder, 88, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 8, 2015 at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born March 2, 1927, in Pigeon, Mich., to Nicholas J. and Melinda (Brenneman) Gascho.

On Sept. 8, 1950, she married Kenneth E. Snyder in Pigeon. He died April 30, 2015. Celesta was a devoted, loving wife to her husband Kenneth.

Celesta worked on her parents' farm and in their general merchandise store in Pigeon until age 20. She attended a Special Bible Term at Eastern Mennonite School in 1948 and Winter Bible School at Goshen College in 1949, where she met Kenneth. After marriage Celesta worked at the Goshen College Snack Shop as manager while Kenneth finished his studies at Goshen College and Mennonite Biblical Seminary.

From 1952 to 1961, Celesta and Kenneth became parents to a daughter, Miriam, and four sons, Merle, Lester, Keith and Dale. Celesta was a very caring mother.

Celesta served as a pastor's wife in Beaverdam, Pa., from 1952 to 1957. From 1966 to 1976, Celesta ran a child care service in her home for several mothers who taught school. Celesta also delivered Meals on Wheels in the Goshen community for more than 25 years.

Celesta and her husband Kenneth joined College Mennonite Church, Goshen, on Aug. 28, 1960, where Celesta was involved in the children's Sunday school program, the church library and WMSC.

Those who preceded Celesta in death were son Keith; her parents; stepmother Mary (Reber) Gascho; brothers Gerald Gascho, Stanley Gascho and Leon Gascho Gunden; and foster brother Dellit Auvil.

Celesta's survivors include daughter Miriam Snyder of Goshen; three sons, Merle (Mary Alderfer) Snyder of Denver, Colo., Lester (Kathy) Snyder of Newton, Kan., and Dale (Anita) Snyder of Goshen; seven grandchildren, Chase, Sophie, Nicholas, Vanessa, Alisha, Andrew and Kyle; three great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Goldie Swartzendruber of Pigeon.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Gathering Room at College Mennonite Church, Goshen. A committal service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at West Goshen Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Koinonia Room at College Mennonite Church, followed by an informal gathering time with the family to share remembrances.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to The Window for the Meals on Wheels program.

GOSHEN - Donald William Snyder, 94, of Goshen, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 11, in his residence.

He was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Roseland, Neb., to C.U. and Mary E. (Kauffman) Snyder.

He married Leta M. Snyder on Sept. 9, 1945, at Bethel Mennonite Church in Ashley, Mich. She died Jan. 21, 2011.

Surviving are a dear friend, Virginia Kreider of Goshen; daughters Donna Snyder (Stephen) Shank of Goshen, JoAnne (Andrew) Lehman of Tustin, Mich., and Cathy (Clare) Cameron of Cambridge, Ontario; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Donald was a retired hospital administrator and past vice-president of the Michigan Hospital Association. He was a member of College Mennonite Church and volunteered with the Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) and The Depot in Goshen.

He enjoyed flying small planes, sailing, skiing, golfing and making jewelry. Donald appreciated the Evergreen Community at Greencroft and the many friends he made there.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 16, at College Mennonite Church Gathering Rooms, 1900 S. Main St., Goshen. A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at College Mennonite Church. Pastor Pamela Yoder and Pastor Gwen Gustafson-Zook will officiate.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to Goshen Hospice. Memorials may be directed to the Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) or Mennonite Central Committee (MCC).

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Keith Snyder in 1986; a sister, Ruth Snyder; and a brother, Allen Snyder.

An area resident since 1960, Mr. Snyder was an ordained minister at Beaverdam Mennonite Church, Pa., for five years before moving to the area and teaching in various Elkhart elementary schools for 331/2 years. He was a member of College Mennonite Church, Goshen.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16, in the gathering room at College Mennonite Church, where a 3 p.m. memorial service will be conducted. A committal service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16, in West Goshen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Goshen or La Casa.

GOSHEN - Wayne D. Sommers, 92, passed away in his home Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 19.

He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Miami County, to Noah and Esther (Strebin) Sommers.

On Feb. 15, 1942, he married Susie Keim in Kokomo. She died Jan. 7, 2008.

Mr. Sommers is survived by two daughters, Lorraine (Glenn) Reinford of Goshen and Fern (Dale) Delagrange of Spencerville; three sons, Wayne Arlee (Julia) Sommers of Albuquerque, N.M., Darrel (Karen) Sommers of Goshen and Dallas (Susan) Sommers of New Stanton, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Wayne) Miller of Bunker Hill; a brother, Byron (Viola) Sommers of Kokomo; and a sister-in-law, Martha Sommers of New Paris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Lois (Raymond) Martin and Miriam (Pete) Bontrager; and two brothers, Dale and Darlton Sommers.

An area resident since 1955, Mr. Sommers was a farmer and an active member of Waterford Mennonite Church. He volunteered for 20 winters at the Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburgh, Texas. Locally, he volunteered at World Missionary Press and MCC Resource Center at The Depot.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. FISHER - Edna Sutter Springer, 98, of Fisher passed away on Tuesday (Oct. 13, 2015) at Gibson Area Hospital.

She was born on a farm near Hopedale on Sept. 8, 1917, the daughter of Lee and Alma Nafziger Sutter. She married Roy Springer of Saybrook on Dec. 30, 1939, at Hopedale. They made their home on the Springer family farm near Bellflower and farmed there. Roy preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2011, at the age of 96.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Carol (James) Rhodes of Topeka, Kan.; two sons, Royal (Beverly) Springer of Fisher and Keith (Kathleen) Springer of Saybrook; and a foster son, Mark (Mary Jo) Bodenhamer of Newbury Park, Calif.

She had eight grandchildren, two foster grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Dr. Willis Sutter of Eureka and Dr. Earl Sutter of Goshen, Ind.; and two sisters, Lela Sutter of Goshen, Ind., and Jean King of Aiken, S.C.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernal and Dennis Sutter; and four sisters, Ina Sutter, Oleeda Albrecht, Miriam Albrecht and Alice Wenger.

Edna graduated from Hopedale High School in 1935. She was baptized at the age of 14 at Hopedale Mennonite Church. She attended a short-term Bible class at Goshen College, Goshen, Ind., which proved helpful to her during her years as a homemaker, Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher.

She was a member of East Bend Mennonite Church, where she was active in Mennonite Women, a service organization that sews clothing, comforters and quilts for the needy.

Edna and Roy and their family served at Alexander Chapel (A.M.E.) at Gibson City for three years. After retirement from farming, Edna and Roy moved to Fisher. They worked as volunteers for 14 years at Ten Thousand Villages, a fair trade store that provides a market for artisans in developing countries.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at East Bend Mennonite Church, rural Fisher, with Pastor Michael Dean officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour before the service on Saturday. Burial will be in East Bend Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sutter Scholarship Fund at Goshen College, Mennonite Mission Network, or East Bend Mennonite Church.

He was born January 21, 1929 at Freeman, Hutchinson Co., SD to Mike J. and Katheryn (Gross) Stahl. Mike was born May 12, 1894 and died January 2, 1963. Katheryn was born January 12, 1894 and died March 15, 1967.

On June 14, 1959 at Freeman he was married to Joann Kleinsasser, was born December 8, 1937 and survives.

Surviving are children, Carol (Tim) Meyer; Mark (Karen) Stahl; and Jeanie (Carter) Nold; nine grandchildren, and siblings: Paul Stahl, Kathryn Hofer, Mary Stahl, John (Deloris) Stahl, Jacob Stahl, and Marvin (Judy) Stahl.

A daughter, Faith Sarfarazi, two brothers, Mike Stahl and Melvin Stahl, and a sister, Anna Stahl preceded him in death.

PORT TREVORTON - John M. Stauffer, 80 of Port Trevorton, died on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at his residence. He was the husband of Arlene F. (Brubaker) Stauffer.

John was born June 5, 1935, in Lancaster County, a son of the late David W. and Mary A. (Martin) Stauffer.

She was a daughter of Henry G. and Leona B. (Stauffer) Stauffer of Mount Pleasant Mills.

In addition to her parents, Laura is survived by her two sisters, Mary Anna and Charlene Stauffer, at home; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Barbara Stauffer, of Selinsgrove; maternal grandparents, Leon and Gladys Stauffer, of Port Trevorton; paternal great- grandfather, Paul S. His brother-in-love, Ryan, and wife Vicki, of Denver, PA; sister-in-love, Kendra Bowman and husband Aaron of Castle Creek, New York; and his sister-in-love, Christa Barner, and husband Joe, of Millerstown; paternal grandparents, Rosetta and Paul Stauffer of York Springs; grandparents-in-love, John and Alta Auker of Thompsontown and Harry and Judi Kline of Columbia; and close family friend Joanne Kerstetter of Selinsgrove.

He was a 2008 graduate of Sun Tech and a 2009 graduate of Juniata Mennonite School, with an incredible gift for welding, exceeding the expectations of all employers and having been awarded first place in a statewide welding competition. He was a member of a four-wheeler club. He was a gifted fabricator, with an inborne artistic ability. His first passion was his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; his second passion was his cherished wife, Jena; his third passion was his family. He loved cars, four-wheeling, snowboarding, mountain biking with his wife, boating, and swimming, pursuing all with a fearless, adventurous spirit. He lived to spend time with his wife, families, and friends. No words can convey how deeply this young man will be missed, but God will keep him in His care until we can all meet again and mend the broken chain of our family. He was employed with Myers Steel Works in Dillsburg.

Friends and family are invited to the viewing on Monday, November 2, 2015 (TODAY) from 5:00-7:00 PM and again on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 10:30AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 AM all from the Richfield Mennonite Church Family Life Center, Route 35, Richfield, PA. DALTON -- Darlene Ruth Steiner, 14-month-old daughter of David and Naomi (Zimmerman) Steiner of Dalton, died unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, Sept. 16, 2015, at her home.

She was born near Mount Eaton on July 4, 2014.

Surviving in addition to her parents, are a sister, Bethany, and brothers, Merle and Brendon, all of the home; grandparents, Lloyd and Susan Steiner of Dalton and Thelma Zimmerman of Romulus, N.Y.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John David Zimmerman.

She was born February 5, 1927 to Clayton & Carrie Eberly at Dalton, Ohio.

Early in her life she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour and was baptized at the County Line Mennonite Church, Dalton, Ohio. Attendance at church and being active in the LORD's work were always her priority.

On October 10, 1948 she was united in marriage to Carl Steiner (January 18, 1927 - May 15, 1981). They enjoyed 32 years, 7 months, and 5 days together.

She was a widow for 34 years, 5 months, and 30 days. God blessed this union with 8 sons and 2 daughters.

She will be greatly missed by her 10 children, 88 grandchildren, 194 great grandchildren, 5 brothers: Homer (Marian) of Orrville, OH; John (Ruby) of Blountstown, FL; Clarence (Luella) of Kidron, OH; Ray (Carol) of Selinsgrove, PA; and Glenn (Emma) of Kidron, OH; and 2 sisters: Edna of Rittman, OH; and Wilma (Tilman Steiner) of Salem, OH; and 5 in-laws: (Mary Eberly (Lloyd), Lois Eberly (Earl), Esther Steiner (Cleophas); Raymond and Lucille Steiner.

In addition to her husband (Carl) she was preceded in death by 1 grandson (Daniel); 2 great-granddaughters (Angela and Jewel); and 1 great-grandson (Jeffery); 4 brothers; Albert, Wain, Lloyd and Earl; 2 sisters, Mildred Eberly and Ethel (John) Amstutz and 13 in-laws.

In May 1963, Carl, Dorothy, and family moved from Orrville, OH to Barwick, ON where they resided until Carl died. Dorothy then moved to Stratton, ON, by her daughter Nancy, where she resided until her death.

Dorothy was a faithful member in the Woodside Conservative Mennonite Church at Pinewood, ON.

Funeral services are planned for Wednesday, November 18, 2015 10:00 am at the Barwick Hal.

Ruth was born near Kidron, OH on March 26, 1942, to the late Lester P. and Grace (Brenner) Geiser and was married to Clayton Steiner on July 11, 1964.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Clayton, sons Kevin (Mandy) along with grandchildren, Kristin and Kyle of Indianapolis, IN., Duane (Janet) residing in St Petersburg, FL, and daughter Kimberly (Paul), of Claremont, CA. Since Ruth was diagnosed with cancer 13 months ago, the family has enjoyed creating memories in Costa Rica last Christmas and Disney World in October. Ruth is survived by brothers, Carl (Beulah) Geiser and Roland (Karen) Geiser of Kidron, OH, sisters Irene (Dean) Miller of Rochester, NY, Pearl (Lynn) Geiser of Mt. Gilead, OH,

Ruth was welcomed into heaven by her parents, son Bruce, and brother, Alfred Geiser, sister in law, Elaine Geiser, and Step-Father, Clair Mumaw, along with a long linage of faithful servants.

Ruth was a member of the Kidron Mennonite Church where she taught Sunday School, was active with various women's groups, the Nurture Department, and was influential in many other areas of church life. She greatly enjoyed singing in the church choir. She was a loving, caring, and thankful person, with a positive influence to many persons. She along with her husband placed service to others as priority. Together they served church related agencies in several states and two countries. She showed her hospitality skills in many different settings. She loved serving as hostess at the International Guest House in Washington, DC and the many guests that came through its doors.

A constant learner and reader, she loved the outdoors and its beautiful plants and flowers. Ruth was an avid flower and vegetable gardener. She and her husband traveled in all 50 states and 3 continents.

She enjoyed children of many ages as illustrated by being a cofounder of the Walnut Hill Day Care Center in Goshen, IN and teaching Math and English for the Dalton Local School for 30 years, retiring in 2006, where she especially loved Camp Wanake's outdoor education.

With her gift of hospitality, she loved leading family get-togethers for both the Geiser and Steiner families.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 29, at 3:00 pm at the Kidron Mennonite Church with the Rev. Carl Wiebe, Craig Strasbaugh and Herman Myers presiding. A family burial will be held preceding the Memorial service. Calling hours will be held in the Kidron Church Fellowship Hall from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday, November 28th. Spidell Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Sons, Carl, Herbert and Gabriel and a daughter, Bonnie preceded her in death.

"Gracie" with "Dad" had many diversified interests that they shared throughout their marriage of 69 years. Because of her grace, she continually created a home where all felt welcomed and loved in both New York and California. She touched many lives with her Christian faith and left this world a better place. We'll all miss her greatly.

Service to be held at Croghan Mennonite Church, Croghan, Lewis Co., NY in the spring of 2016 with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

On October 18, 2003 he married Lisa Wagler, she survives. Together they had three children, Katelyn Elizabeth, 8, Aleigha Claire, 4, and Grant Tristan, 18 months.

He is survived by his parents of Odon, one brother and two sisters. Tyson (Amanda) Stoll, Loogootee IN, Shannon (Eric) Hostetler, Utica OH, and Sarita (Tim) Graber of Odon.

He was a member of the Mt Olive Mennonite Church.

Tristan was loved by all who knew him. Friendly and ready to visit, he always had a smile. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved spending time with his family. He was employed by Hutson Inc. as a John Deere mechanic and was known by many farmers in the area.

Calling hours will be Thursday, Oct 8 4-8 pm, Friday 2-4 and 5-8 pm at the Mt Olive Mennonite Church in Montgomery.

The funeral will be held Saturday, October 10 at 10 am at the Mt Olive Mennonite Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

He was born May 21, 1945, in Reading, a son of the late Mast B. and Mabel K. (Petersheim) Stoltzfus. On June 12, 1968, at the Millmont Mennonite Church, he married the former Rhoda E. Longenecker who survives.

Fred worked as a logger. Fred loved the Lord with all his heart. His family and church were very important to him.

GOSHEN - Edward G. Swartzendruber, 98, passed away peacefully Monday, March 30, at IU Health Goshen Hospital after a short illness.

He was born July 26, 1916, in Bay Port, Mich., to Joseph and Emma (Shetler) Swarzendruber.

On April 2, 1939, he married Mary A. Aschliman in Pigeon, Mich.

She survives along with two children, Kay Montgomery of Palm Springs, Calif., and Douglas E. (Rhonda Willems) Swartzendruber of Boulder, Colo.; four grandchildren, Anna Montgomery and Douglas, Nick and Rachel Swartzendruber; three great-grandchildren, Silas, Noelle and Elias; a sister, Bess (Joe) Gabriel of Kent, Ohio; and a brother, Claude (Shirley) Swartzendruber of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William, Paul, Walter and Omar Swartzendruber; and a sister, Alma Heap.

A long-time area resident, Mr. Swartzendruber was co-owner, along with Ellsworth Fanning, of EDD's Supplies in Shipshewana. He also farmed for many years, raising corn, wheat and chickens. Ed retired in 2010.

Valedictorian of Bay Port High School, Ed was a member of College Mennonite Church. Ed had a deep appreciation for music. He sang for many years with Menno Singers and was a loyal supporter and attendee of Goshen College music programs.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 3, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, at College Mennonite Church. A private burial will take place in Violett Cemetery in Goshen.

Swartzendruber, Edward G., 98, of Goshen, Elkhart Co., IN died March 30, 2015 at the same place. He was born July 26, 1916 at Bay Port, MI to Joseph Emma (Shetler) Swartzendruber. On April 2, 1939 at Pigeon, MI he was married to Mary A. Aschliman, who was born January 1, 1918 and survives.

GOSHEN - Marilyn N. Swartzentruber, 86, passed away Sunday evening, Nov. 22, at Greencroft Healthcare.

She was born July 9, 1929, in Elkhart County, to Vernon L. and Vera (Johns) Stutzman.

On Dec. 31, 1954, she married Mervin J. Swartzentruber at Clinton Frame Mennonite Church.

He survives along with three daughters, Julie Swartzentruber of Pittsburgh, Jo Rogers of Houston and Jean Reilly of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a son, John (Lauren McKinney) Swartzentruber of Swarthmore, Pa.; five grandchildren, Samantha, McKenna and Ben Reilly and Jack and Will Swartzentruber; two sisters, Margaret Kauffman of Kalispell, Mont., and Joan Hershberger of Macon, Miss.; and two brothers, Leon (Roberta) Stutzman of Littleton, Colo., and Duane (Irma) Stutzman of Goshen.

A member of Benton Mennonite Church, Mrs. Swartzentruber previously was an administrative assistant for Mennonite Publishing House in Scottdale, Pa., for 37 years. After retirement, she worked as a courier for Goshen Health System and as an active volunteer at Benton Mennonite Church, Greencroft Goshen and other community organizations.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, memorial service in The Meetinghouse on the Goshen Greencroft campus. Pastors Doug Kaufmann and Brenda Meyer will officiate. Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory. Burial will be at a later date in Gracelawn Cemetery in Middlebury.

Memorials may be given to Benton Mennonite Church or Greencroft Foundation.
